Buying ahead of earnings is nothing but a bet.
If I decide to buy ahead of earnings, and the stock runs higher in anticipation of the report, Sell! Take my profits and move on. More important, do not play the earnings game! There is plenty of money to be made elsewhere.

I learned the hard way too. Sold LNN and bought CSCO before the earnings =(.
